The annual Camp Nyagunwe will again be held in Amber, NY!

Camp Nyagunwe offers mbira players around the East Coast a rare opportunity to participate in a weekend mbira intensive. The weekend will include daily instruction at all levels, on mbira, singing, and hosho. In the evenings, we will relax, enjoy each other’s company, and play mbira together.

Registration covers the cost of lodging (please be prepared to share a room), organic local food, and classes. Special dietary needs can be accommodated with advanced notice.

The third annual 2015 Camp Nyagunwe, held in Sodus Point, NY was amazing!

This is what it was!!:

September 24th and end at 5pm on Sunday, September 27th. This year, our featured guest teacher will be Patience Chaitezvi Munjeri, one of the world’s few female mbira masters.

On the shores of Lake Ontario, Camp Nyagunwe offers mbira players around the East Coast a rare opportunity to participate in a weekend mbira intensive. The weekend will include daily instruction at all levels, on mbira, singing, and hosho. In the evenings, we will relax, enjoy each other’s company, and play mbira together.

Space at Camp Nyagunwe is limited to eight people, so make sure to register early! The cost to participate is $425, or $325 for students (with a valid student ID). A $25 discount will be given for participants who register and pay before September 1st.
